How Haplo-identical BMT/HSCT works?
While regular allogenic Bone Marrow Transplantations require a nearly perfect match of all HLA copies, Haplo-identical BMTs require only half a match between the donor’s and the patient’s HLA copies.
Since nearly every person is half-matched with at least one close relative it is almost certain to find a healthy donor from your own close family (95%).
The Haplo-BMT procedure is quite similar to a full-match allogenic BMT, but with a few adjustments.
